Srinagar, Dec 27 (KNS): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Wednesday stressed on Army troops in Rajouri that “you will have to win wars, eradicate terrorism and defend the country, but ensure you will have to win hearts of the countrymen.”
After arriving in Jammu, Rajnath Singh visited Rajouri to interact with Army soldiers and take stock of the security situation in the aftermath of terror attack in Dera ki Gali on December 21 that left four soldiers dead.
Following the attack, 3 civilians also allegedly died due to torture after being picked up by army for questioning regarding the terror attack on Army vehicles.
While interacting with the troops in Rajouri, Singh, as per KNS said that the attack will not be taken for granted and every soldier is very important and is like a family member to them and every countrymen feels the same way.
He also said that besides winning the war against terrorists and defending the country, troops have big responsibility of winning the hearts of fellow countrymen.
"We will win the wars and we will eradicate terrorism as well. But we will have to make sure to win the hearts of the people. You all have a huge responsibility on your shoulders, and for that, we will always be grateful to you," he told Army troops.
He said that there should be no lapse which hurts a countrymen. “Be connected with people, win their trust. I believe you are fulfilling that responsibility very well, but you need to do so more seriously and cautiously. From time to time you need to visit the people and enquire about their wellbeing in order to know that if they are facing any difficulty,” he said. (KNS)
