NC to Mehbooba Mufti: Brush Up on Assembly Rules Before Making Accusations

Srinagar, Feb 24 (KNS): A day after Mehbooba Mufti accused the Speaker of imposing martial law in the Assembly, the National Conference (NC) on Monday advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president to familiarize herself with the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the House before making allegations.

Referring to Rule 368, which prohibits members from publicizing any notice regarding the business of the House before it is admitted by the Speaker and circulated to members, NC spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar criticized Mehbooba Mufti for disregarding Assembly norms.

"Before making uncouth remarks on J&K Assembly Speaker, I would advise @MehboobaMufti to go through the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in J&K Assembly before trying to score brownie points over a private member's bill.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThis is a question of sanctity and decorum of the House," Dar said in a post on X.

The NC's response comes after Mehbooba Mufti's strong criticism of the Speaker, alleging that legislative proceedings were being stifled. However, the party maintained that adherence to procedural rules is crucial for maintaining the dignity of the House.(KNS)
