11 Militants Killed In Current Month On LOC; ADGP Vijay Kumar Commends Army-Police Collaboration in Counter-Terror Operation; Large Recovery of War-Like Stores, Narcotics Exposes Pakistan's Vicious Plan in Kashmir: Army

 Kipwara, June 23(KNS): Security forces on Friday foiled an infiltration bid and killed four militants in a joint operation launched by Army and Kupwara Police in Kala Jungle area of Machil Sector in Kupwara district.

"In this swift and coordinated operation, four unidentified terrorists were neutralized, when their movement was observed along LoC thereby ensuring the safety and security of the region. Pertinent to mention here that, 11 terrorists have been neutralized in the current month by the joint teams of Army & Police in three separate encounters along the LOC," a Police spokesperson said in a statement issued to the Kashmir News Service (KNS).

"During the intervening night of 22/23 June, joint alert party of police & Army detected suspicious movement in general area of Kala Jungle along the Line of Control in Machil Sector. The joint team laid multiple checkpoints and tracking of the terrorist movement was carried out. At around 0430 hours, movement of terrorists was observed crossing the LOC. Employing meticulous tactics, the terrorists were intercepted who fired indiscriminately upon the joint teams. The fire was retaliated, leading to the elimination of four heavily armed unidentified terrorists. The joint party demonstrated exceptional professionalism, courage, and strategic planning during the operation," the police said, adding that the identification and affiliation of the killed terrorists is being ascertained.

"Arms & ammunition including 09 AK Series Rifles, 14 AK Magazines, 288 rounds of Assorted Ammunition (AK and Pistol), 04 Hand Grenades, 03 Pistols, 05 Pistols Magazines and 55 Suspected Narco Packets & other incriminating materials have been recovered from the site of encounter," he said.

He further said that the neutralized terrorists were found to be heavily armed, equipped with sophisticated weaponry & narcotics which indicates their malicious intent to carry out disruptive activities aimed at causing harm to innocent civilians. "However, due to the timely and effective response by Army & Police, their plans were foiled, and a significant threat to peace and stability in the area was neutralized," the police said.

"In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation is in progress. Extensive search of the area is being carried out and further details if any will be shared accordingly," he added.

ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar lauds the exceptional bravery, professionalism, and strategic planning exhibited by the joint team of Army & Police during the operation. Their coordinated efforts, meticulous execution, and swift response resulted in the neutralization of four unidentified terrorists, effectively averting a potential threat to the region's safety & security and saving the future of youth from the drug abuse.

ADGP Kashmir acknowledges the relentless dedication of the joint forces, in safeguarding the nation against terrorism. He added that this successful operation is a big blow to the narco-funding and other terror plans of the terrorists.

Similarly, an Army spokesperson said that during During the intervening night of 22/ 23 June, alert troops  of Indian Army detected suspicious movement in general area Kala Jungle along the Line of Control in Machhal Sector. "Ambushes were sited and tracking of the terrorist movement was carried out during the night. At around 0430 hours  four terrorists were observed crossing the line of control from Pakistan. They were engaged upon coming in effective range by the Ambush parties," he said, adding that intense fire fight ensued resulting in elimination of all four terrorists without any harm to own troops.

He further said that the war like stores and narcotics AK Series rifles - 09, AK Mag - 14, Assorted Ammunition (AK and Pistol)- 288 rds, Hand Grens - 04, Pistols - 03, Pistol mags - 05, Suspected Narco packets - 55 had been recovered from the slain terrorists.


He further said that the recovery of large amount of War Like Stores including substantial narcotics material to be used for terror funding indicates the vicious plan of Pakistan by utilising the terrorists to derail the existing peace in Kashmir Valley. "This successful operation is a big blow to the Narco funding & terror plans of the terrorists. Operation in progress. Extensive search of the area being carried out," he added.(KNS).
