Srinagar, February 27 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of Dr. Ghulam Sibtain Masoodi, father-in-law of the organization's head, Mirwaiz Kashmir Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq. Dr. Masoodi, a prominent social figure and physician, passed away after a prolonged illness. The organization paid rich tribute to the late Dr. Masoodi, acknowledging his remarkable social and humanitarian services.
The leadership and members of the organization, mourning the passing of Dr. Sibtain Masoodi—expressed their condolences and solidarity with Mirwaiz Sahib, his family, and the bereaved. Special condolences were extended to the deceased’s sons Mr. Murtaza Masoodi and Yahya Masoodi his brothers, Mr.Syedain Masoodi, Mr. Hasnain Masoodi, and Mr. Saqlain Masoodi, as well as his son-in-law, Mr. Ayub Afzal Khan, and all other family members. Meanwhile, the organization strongly condemned the imposition of restrictions by state authorities on offering funeral prayers for the deceased at the Central Jama Masjid in Srinagar. It stated that such an aggressive approach by the state authorities in a moment of mourning is not only unjustified but also entirely contrary to recognized human values and ethics.
The funeral prayers of the deceased later offered at Barzulla were led by Mirwaiz of Kashmir, Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, and was attended by a large gathering comprising heads of religious, political, and social organizations, along with people from different walks of life.
Later, the deceased was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Khrew, Pampore.(KNS)
