Border Situation Stable, Measures in Place Ahead of Assembly Polls: GoC 15 Corps

Srinagar, June 08 (KNS): Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, General Officer Commanding (GoC) of the 15 Corps, on Sunday said that all necessary measures are in place to ensure a stable security situation in Kashmir ahead of the Assembly polls scheduled for September.

Speaking at a felicitation ceremony for Kargil War veterans at the General Bipin Rawat Stadium in Baramulla, Lt. Gen. Ghai assured that the border situation remains stable. "Our security agencies are fully committed to maintain stability and are prepared to take all necessary actions," he stated.

Swain, which indicated that 70 to 80 foreign terrorists are active in Jammu and Kashmir, GOC said, "The number of foreign terrorists cited by the DGP is accurate. It is evident how security agencies are dealing with these threats."

Regarding the recent encounter in Pulwama, where the longest-surviving Lashkar-e-Toiba commander was neutralized, GOC said that every successful operation is a sign of progress and a step forward.

The event also honored the contributions of Kargil War veterans, with Lt. Gen. Ghai lauding the Himalayan regiment for their exceptional bravery and decisive action during the war.(KNS)
