Srinagar, Sep 13 (KNS): Fearing post-prayer protests, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday restricted the movement of people to several Eidgah’s including Eidgah Srinagar and valley’s some grand old mosques including Jamia Masjid Srinagar all roads leading to Dargah Hazratbal and Jamia Masjid in Srinagar to prevent big Eid congregations.
KNS office was flooded with telephone calls from different parts of Srinagar and other districts of Kashmir about the disturbances caused in the movement of people to Eidgah’s.
Several callers from old parts of Srinagar city told KNS that Eid prayers were not offered at Eidgah Srinagar, Dargah Hazratbal and the revered shrine of Hazrat Syed Yaqoob Sahib (RA) in Sonwar area of Srinagar due to strict curfew imposed by the authorities. Eye Witnesses said that all the entry points towards the shrine of Hazrat Syed Yaqoob Sahib (RA) iwere sealed by the authorities to prevent people from marching towards the nearby UN office.
The resistance leadership had asked people to march towards the UN office today. Security was tightened across Kashmir valley while broadband Internet and mobile phone services were suspended yesterday. Strict curfew was imposed as the authorities fear people could march towards the UN office after Eid prayers.

Meanwhile, curfew continued in all the 10 districts of Kashmir to thwart the march. A college student died after being hit by a tear smoke shell in Bandipora district of north Kashmir.
Special prayers were made for peace in Kashmir during Eid namaz in Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir’s Ladakh division on Tuesday.
The prayers were offered by big congregations of people at Jama Masjid Kargil, Islamia School, Majid Noorbakshia and Eidgah. The prayers were organised by Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust, Islamia School and JammatAhl-e-Sunnat Kargil.
Big gatherings were seen in different mosques in Sankoo, Suru, Sharogole, Wakha, Drass and Zanaskar areas. The clerics offered special prayers for peace in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Bahrain and other parts of Islamic world.
Special prayers were made for peace in Kashmir valley. Appeals were made to the muslim community to remain vigilant against any kind of conspiracy from the US and Zionists and its allies against Muslim community. Resistance leadership has asked people to march towards the UN office in Sonawar today after Eid prayers to demand resolution of the Kashmir issue. (KNS)
