Awantipora, Aug 28 (KNS): In a bid to make the students aware about the importance of choosing civil services as one of the careers, Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST) on Monday organised a special lecture on “How to prepare for Civil Services Examination.”
The lecture was delivered by former Chief Income Tax Commissioner, President Zakat Foundation and a noted civil servantDr. Syed Zafar Mahmood (IRS) for the varsity students.
In his lecture, Zafar Mahmood gave a detailed power point presentation on the subject elaborating the essential features of opting for civil services in order to not only get empowered but also to have a share in policy decision making processes. He gave a detailed account of the socio-economic status of Muslims with special reference to Sachar Committee Report that had clearly recorded the week position of Muslims in the sub-continent. He quoted various verses of holy Quran to inspire the students to strive for excelling in their fields of study and to achieve new heights in their careers.
He advised the students to take inspiration from the poetry of Allama Iqbal to give boost to their moralein setting the targets in their lives and reaching to their goals and objectives.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe emphasized on various tools to prepare for cracking the civil services examination. He called up on students to absorb the secrets of education to become empowered and thereby benefiting themselves and the community. The lecture was followed by a vibrant interactive session.
In his Presidential Address Vice Chancellor Prof. Mushtaq A. Siddiqi expressed his pleasure over the usefulness of the lecture and called it a good step ahead in creating a competitive atmosphere amongst the student community.He called upon the students to keep themselves abreast with the career opportunities around the world by using the modern internet technologies in order to carve out the niche.
Earlier Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. Mushtaq A. Qurishi in his Welcome Address noted the significance of this lecture and applauded the contributions made by Zafar Mahmood.
The lecture concluded with a Vote of thanks proposed by the Dean of Students IUST Prof. Khurshid A. Tarzan. The lecture was attended by Deans, HoDs, Principals, Officers and faculty members and large chunk of students from various departments of the varsity. (KNS)
