J&K Govt to Establish 600 Panchayat Ghars with Internet Connectivity in 2024-25 Fiscal Year


Srinagar, June 24 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced a series of developmental initiatives for the 2024-25 fiscal year, aimed at enhancing rural infrastructure and employment opportunities.


As per the official document accessed by Kashmir News Service (KNS), the Govt will establish 600 new panchayat ghars under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), each equipped with 100% internet connectivity.

Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), the government plans to generate 400 lakh mandays, providing substantial employment opportunities for the rural population, it said adding that the HIMAYAT scheme will see the training of approximately 7,000 candidates, enhancing their employability and skill sets.

In a bid to strengthen women's empowerment and community development, the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) will facilitate the formation of 12,000 new Self Help Groups (SHGs) during the upcoming fiscal year to support economic activities at the grassroots level.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

It also said that the RGSA will also involve the training of 2.60 lakh mandays for members of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) so to ensure that local governance bodies are well-equipped to manage and implement development projects efficiently.

In the realm of housing, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) will oversee the construction of 80,000 houses, providing secure and affordable housing for rural residents, it further said.


It said that to promote cleanliness and environmental sustainability, villages across Jammu and Kashmir will be equipped with solid and liquid waste management facilities, aiming to create clean, litter, and plastic-free environments.

It further said that the Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) will see the treatment of 26,000 hectares of land with the completion of 1,800 works, contributing to better water management and agricultural productivity.(KNS)
