J&K police rewards 5 border residents of Rajouri for foiling cross-LoC narco smuggle bid

Rajouri June 14( (KNS) Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday rewarded five border residents for foiling a major narco smuggling bid in Village Makdi of Rajouri.

The police statement issued to KNS reads: 5 border residents of Nowshera sector, who had set a trademark of bravery and patriotic spirit by foiling a major cross border narco smuggling bid, which led to recovery of massive consignment in April."

Police department sanctioned reward money valuing 4 Lacs in favour of 05 border residents (names withheld) for their heroic display of brave and patriotic act, it added.

The narco smuggling bid was foiled in Village Makdi, which is one of the villages located ahead of Anti-Infiltration Obstacle System (AIOS), referred to as LoC fence.

"Alongside recoveries of narcotics, a major cross border smuggling racket has also been busted following the swift sharing of intel by felicitating these border residents," statement also said.

Police also arrested four smugglers and investigating their other linkages- transnational as well as those operating from own side of LoC.

"J&K Police has once again reiterated its firm resolve to carry forward its fight against transnational crimes especially narco, terror and narco-terror crimes by seeking and motivating general public’s active participation in noble cause.," statement reads. (KNS).
