Kashmiri Pandits Pay Rich Tributes to Martyr Major Sushil Aima

Jammu, Aug 01 (KNS): Kashmiri Pandits paid rich tributes to the illustrious son of Kashmir and martyr Major Sushil Aima at his memorial on Major Sushil Aima Road in Gurugram, Haryana, for his supreme sacrifice in defence of the motherland and the Dharma of Bharat Mata.

Among the attendees was Ashok Bhan, noted Supreme Court Senior Lawyer and prominent Kashmiri leader; Ajay Pandita, coordinator of Kashmir Peace Lovers (KPL); Dr Anil Vaisnavi, President of Gurugram Kashmiri Association; Rohit Dhar, Vice President of All India Kashmiri Samaj; along with academicians, civil society activists, artists, and veterans, who all paid glowing tributes to Major Aima.

On the night of August 1, 1999, Major Sushil was preparing for his departure to Delhi when his unit received orders to thwart an imminent attack by a large group of Pakistani terrorists and foreign mercenaries on a nearby village in the Poonch district. Major Sushil, leading the 17 Rashtriya Rifles unit, cordoned off the area and launched an all-out attack.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelAfter a fierce seven-hour encounter, he was fatally wounded but managed to kill three terrorists, protecting a colleague in the process. His heroic actions resulted in the elimination of five militants and the recovery of significant arms and explosives.

Major Aima's valorous fight against the Pakistani intruders earned him a place among the martyrs of the Indian Army. His body was brought to his house in Palam Vihar, Delhi, where thousands gathered to honour the fallen hero. Born on July 15, 1966, in an illustrious family from Srinagar, Major Sushil Aima joined the National Defence Academy in 1985 despite initial fears of family disapproval, which turned into support from his father, Shri Makhanlal Aima.
