Srinagar, June 13 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) R R Swain on Thursday accused Pakistan of trying to disturb the peace through its mercenaries.

Following four terror attacks in Reasi, Kathua, and Doda districts over the past four days, Swain warned that those aiding terrorists would regret their decisions.

The attacks resulted in the deaths of nine people, including seven pilgrims returning from Shiv Khouri temple, and a CRPF jawan. Seven security personnel and several others were injured. Two suspected Pakistani terrorists were killed in Kathua, with a significant quantity of arms and ammunition recovered from them.

Speaking to reporters, Swain said that Pakistan's aim is to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir by sending its own people after failing to recruit locals. He stated that security forces are committed to maintaining peace and eradicating terrorism from the region.

"Enemy agents supporting foreign terrorists for money and narcotics will be identified and dealt with sternly," Swain said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe highlighted that while foreign terrorists have nothing to lose, their local supporters have families, land, and jobs, and will suffer the consequences.

The DGP's comments came after a high-level security meeting in Katra, the base camp for Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims. The meeting was attended by senior officials including Reasi Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan and DIG Rayees Mohammad Bhat.

Swain assured that the security forces are prepared to face challenges and are committed to giving a strong response to any threats, vowing to maintain peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Terrorism was wiped out in Jammu's Doda and Ramban districts by 2005, and we are ready to face any similar challenges now," he said. "We promise to eliminate terrorists one by one to ensure a peaceful atmosphere."(KNS)
