Patients suffer amid medicine shortage in District hospital Bandipora

Bandipora, May 21 (KNS): The shortage of medicines like NS, Metron, Ciplox, Ceftraxone salbectum, in district hospital Bandipora is forcing patients to buy that from private chemist shops at higher rates.

According to the details available with news agency—Kashmir News Service (KNS), the shortage of the medicines in hospital drug stores have been forcing patients admitted in the wards and the outdoor patient department (OPD) visitors, to purchase prescribed medicines from private chemist shops at higher rates.

The only multi-specialty government hospital in the region, DH Bandipora largely caters to the health care needs of the people who can hardly afford expensive medical facilities in private hospitals and in clinics.

"Yesterday my daughter was admitted to the hospital, doctors prescribed me a few medicines and asked to buy it from the hospital drug store.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelAfter visiting there they said they have a shortage of these medicines and buy it from outside," Gh Rasool Khan a local resident of Matrigam said.

He also said that shortage of medicines in the DH Bandipora is forcing poor patients to suffer at the high prices of private chemist shops.


Locals alleged that the UT government had launched the free medicine scheme in all government health institutions but shortage of providing the essential drugs has exposed the inability of the health department to provide better health facilities.

Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Bandipora, Dr. Sheikh Mushtaq, stated that they have already raised the issue with JKMSCL and forwarded a requisition a month ago, but are yet to receive the supply. (KNS)
