Police organizes awareness programme on new criminal laws in Baramulla

Srinagar February 21 (KNS): On the directions of SSP Baramulla Shri Gurinderpal Singh-IPS, Police in Baramulla organized an awareness programme on New Criminal Laws at Govt Degree College Kreeri.

The event was chaired by SDPO Kreeri DySP Javid Ahmad and attended by other officers of Baramulla Police, Principal of Govt Degree College Kreeri and teaching, non-teaching staff and students of the college.

The speakers in the event explained key aspects of the new criminal laws, highlighting the replacement of the IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) respectively.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThey emphasized that these laws aim to ensure speedy justice for victims and swift punishment for offenders, with specific time frames set for case investigations. The officers also shed light on the provision for registering zero FIRs.

The session was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions, asking questions, and seeking clarifications on the new legal provisions. The new laws also incorporate modern investigation techniques, utilizing technology to enhance the justice system.
