ACB arrests RDD official in bribery case in Budgam

Srinagar, Dec 21 (KNS): Anti Corruption Bureau trapped and arrested an official of Rural Development Department for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 2,000 in Budgam district on Thursday.

In a statement, the ACB said it traps and arrests Tanveer Ahmad Dar, Assistant Engineer, Rural Development Department, Surasyar, Chadoora, District Budgam for demanding and accepting ?2000 for releasing the payment

"Anti Corruption Bureau received a written complaint against Tanveer Ahmad Dar, Assistant Engineer, Rural Development Department, BDO Office, Surasyar, Chadoora, District Budgam for allegedly demanding bribe of ?2000 for release of due payment in favour of the complainant," it said.

It further said that the complainant alleged that he is contractor of Rural Development Department and had completed allotted Works and the above named Assistant Engineer is demanding 2% of the total cost of the bills. The complainant alleged that the two bills amounting to the tune of ?90000 each were to be passed by alleged AE. "However the said public servant remained adamant on his demand of bribe and finally agreed on ?2000 as bribe release the payment. The complainant arranged ?2000  and approached ACB for legal action," it added.

"On receipt of the complaint, case FIR No. 25/2023 U/S 7 PC Act 1988 was registered in PS ACB Srinagar and investigation taken up. During the course of investigation a trap team was constituted. The team laid a successful trap and caught red-handed Tanveer Ahmad Dar S/o Ghulam Mohammad R/o Badipora, Chadoora District Budgam posted as Assistant Engineer in BDO Office Surasyar while demanding and accepting bribe amount of ?2000. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused Tanveer Ahmad Dar on spot. The alleged accused was arrested and taken into legal custody," it added.

It also said that the further Investigation of the case is going on.(KNS)
