Advoate Nazir Malik voices concern over unpaid land compensation to Dardpora residents

Bandipora, November 03(KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Constituency incharge for Bandipora Advocate Nazir Ahmad Malik on Friday voiced deep concern and disappointment over the ongoing challenges faced by the villagers of Dardpora village of North Kashmir's Bandipora district.

As per the statement issued here, Advocate Nazir said that residents of Dardpora village have endured a lengthy struggle related to the compensation for land acquisition dating back to a road project initiated in 2014.

Despite the successful completion of the road project, these villagers have yet to receive the compensation that was assured to them, he said.

The situation is profoundly disheartening, with approximately 35 families having lost their land to this project and experiencing continued suffering due to the absence of financial recompense, he said adding that these affected villagers have diligently followed all prescribed procedures, submitting their documentation to the authorities, only to find that their pleas have gone unanswered.

He said that the distressing situation has resulted in significant hardship, as some villagers have lost substantial portions of their land, while others have been forced to demolish their homes or abandon house foundations due to the road project's development.

The villagers have made numerous attempts to resolve this issue by approaching the NABARD office, where they received nothing more than vague assurances regarding the release of funds, he said as per the statement.

Advocate Nazir as per the statement believed that the approach taken by the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department in handling this matter is far from satisfactory.

He urged the administration, with a particular emphasis on the Lieutenant Governor's office, to give immediate attention to this issue and expedite its resolution, thereby alleviating the distress and suffering endured by these marginalized villagers.

Advocate Nazir said that he is committed to leaving no stone unturned in ensuring the successful attainment of their rightful compensation and addressing their long-standing grievances with the urgency they deserve.(KNS).
