Anticipating ECI will take decision after considering prevailing weather conditions: BJP’s Ravinder Raina on poll deferment

Srinagar, Apr 28 (KNS): BJP J&K President Ravinder Raina Sunday hoped that Election Commission of India (ECI) will take a call on any possible postponement of Lok Sabha election in Anantnag-Rajouri seat after considering prevailing weather conditions.

Raina expressed these remarks during his visit to Gundbal Srinagar where he met the families who lost their loved ones in boat capsize tragedy two weeks ago.

He said due to unfavorable weather conditions, the Mughal Road which serves as the only connection between Anantnag and Poonch-Rajouri, has been closed. “There is heavy snowfall and still the weather is not favorable. As of now the snowfall is going on at Pir Ki Gali, resulting closure of the road. This however shouldn’t hinder candidates’ ability to campaign, and every voter should be able to cast their vote without difficulty in our democratic system,” BJP UT President Ravinder Raina as per KNS told reporters.

He said there should be no political maneuvering or interference in this process. “The ECI has sought a report from the J&K administration, and I’m confident the poll body with take an appropriate decision after considering bad weather conditions into account,” he said.

Notably few regional political parties and independent candidates have demanded deferment of LS polls in Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary seat. However NC and PDP have emphasized upon ECI to take opinion of other parties as well on board before taking any decision. (KNS)
