Director Horticulture Visits Budgam Engages with Orchardists

Srinagar, Aug 19 (KNS): Director Horticulture Kashmir, Mr. G. R. Mir (JKAS), recently undertook a significant journey to the district of Budgam. He was accompanied by Chief Horticulture Officer Budgam, Subject Matter Specialist Budgam, and various field functionaries of the Department. 

The purpose of his visit was to bolster the horticultural practices in the region
and facilitate a productive exchange of knowledge. During the tour, the director explored diverse areas within the district, making insightful visits to multiple High-Density orchards. Engaging directly with orchardists, he had meaningful interactions to understand their challenges and aspirations. These conversations not only facilitated the exchange of ideas but also provided practical insights into the issues faced by the local horticulture community.

A notable event during the visit was the Director’s active participation in an
awareness camp held at the Town Hall Charari Sharief. 

This event was attended by
prominent local representatives, including BDC Charari Sharief, DDC Pakharpora,
Chairman, and President of the Fruit Growers Association in Charari Sharief, alongside
members of PRIs. The camp served as a vital platform for disseminating valuable
information. It attracted a significant turnout of farmers, all eager to learn about the latest
developments in horticulture. 

Director personally engaged with the farmers, sharing technical insights, and enlightening them about the range of ongoing departmental schemes.

Following this, the director proceeded to the Fruit Plant Nursery in Futlipopra. where
he thoroughly reviewed ongoing developments. Underlining the significance of
producing high-quality planting material, he emphasized the importance of maintaining
impeccable standards to achieve the desired results. Curious about the nursery
production plan and the progress made in budding, he displayed a keen interest in the
operational aspects contributing to the cultivation of healthy and productive plants.(KNS)
