Udhampur, April 11 (KNS): The Director Sericulture J&K today conducted an extensive visit to the Seed Station Patta, Sial Sallan, and Cherry in District Udhampur to review the ongoing silkworm seed production operations.
During his visit, the Director assessed the preparedness at the seed stations and took a detailed review meeting with the District Sericulture Officer, Udhampur, Manager Seed and other senior departmental officials. He issued on-spot instructions to the concerned officers, emphasizing the need to intensify efforts towards large-scale indigenous production of silkworm seed. He stated that achieving self-reliance in silkworm seed production is critical for the sustainability and growth of the sericulture sector in the Union Territory.
While interacting with a large number of Silkworm Rearers and Farmers from the area, he assured them of full support from the department and encouraged them to maintain close contact with the departmental officers for availing all necessary facilities and technical guidance to ensure a bumper cocoon crop this rearing season. He stressed upon the importance of timely availability of technical inputs and services, which play a crucial role in enhancing productivity.
The Director also instructed the District Sericulture Officer, Udhampur, to ensure uninterrupted availability of quality Mulberry foliage to the Silkworm Rearers.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe directed that no stone should be left unturned in facilitating smooth rearing activities with optimal silkworm survival and higher yields.
Later in the day, the Director, Sericulture J&K chaired a comprehensive review meeting with all senior officers of Jammu Division at the Directorate of Sericulture Development Department, Camp Office Jammu. The meeting focused on assessing the progress of various departmental activities, implementation of schemes, ensuring concerted efforts for achieving targets, streamlining departmental coordination, and chalking out strategies for successful implementation of sericulture activities across the region.
The Director reiterated the departments commitment to the welfare of Silkworm Rearers and emphasized continued innovation, support, and monitoring to uplift the sericulture sector in Jammu and Kashmir. The Director Sericulture J&K was accompanied by the Research Officer, Directorate of Sericulture Dev. Department, J&K, District Sericulture Officer, Udhampur, Manager Seed, Basic Seed Station Batote and other officers of the department.(KNS)
