Doctors' Day: Every Healthcare Worker Integral to Patient Care, Says SKIMS Director

 Srinagar, July 1 (KNS) : Asserting that healthcare is a collective endeavour, the Director of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Prof. Mohd Ashraf Ganai, on Wednesday underscored the indispensable role of every healthcare worker in patient care, stressing that their contributions must be acknowledged.

 
Speaking to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) on the occasion of National Doctors' Day, which commemorates the birth and death anniversary of Dr. B.C. Roy, Prof. Ganai detailed the institute's initiatives to mark the occasion. He informed that SKIMS conducted complimentary health check-up camps not only for doctors but also for paramedics, security personnel, sanitation staff, and members of the media fraternity. A formal function was also organized to felicitate healthcare workers for their dedicated service.

He elaborated that effective healthcare delivery necessitates the participation of multiple stakeholders, including hospital staff, civil society, and the media, which plays a crucial role in disseminating public awareness.
 
In his appeal to the public, the SKIMS Director urged citizens to prioritize their own well-being and that of their families and communities. "People must take care of their health, their children, their families, and their neighbourhoods. If the public extends its support to these efforts, it will greatly enhance our ability to serve them better," he added. (KNS)
