Former Dy Mayor Sheikh Imran hits out at Omar Abdullah, says “those grabbing power through boycott are beating chest on poll deferment

Srinagar, May 02 (KNS): Former Deputy Mayor Srinagar Sheikh Imran Thursday strongly hit out at National Conference Vice-President and former chief minister Omar Abdullah over his remarks on poll deferment in Anantnat-Rajouri Parliamentary seat.

Sheikh Imran said those took undue advantage of boycott in past should die of shame over dictating terms to Election Commission of India (ECI). He said, “NC first resorted to poll rigging in 1987 which led youth disappointed on democratic process. Later in 1996 when the situation was extremely bad NC leaders like Dr. Farooq Abdullah came forward and played his dynastic politics on the heads of people of Jammu & Kashmir”.

He said during NC regime, the J&K was plunged into deep uncertainty and this dynastic regime enjoyed their life on the blood of common Kashmiri’s.

“Those came to power due to boycott should refrain from dictating terms to Election Commission. In dynastic regime times, they were threatening people from voting other parties and were harassing them and their families,” he said.

He added due to bad weather a big chunk of people of Anantnag-Rajouri belt cannot afford to reach polling booth to cast their vote, however NC was trying utmost to keep them away from taking part in election as people of the segment are the worst hit by the tyranny of Abdullah’s. “After 1996 elections, NC gave free hand to Ikhwan in Anantnag belt who wrecked havoc and tortured and killed huge chunk of youth. How come they forget such crimes of NC? The people of the region will respond heavily to NC and will wind up their business in the segment in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls,” Sheikh Imran added. (KNS)
