New Delhi, Jul 6 (KNS): The government on Monday appointed senior IPS officers Alok Kumar Mittal and Amit Garg as Directors General of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) and the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), respectively, according to an official order.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cleared the top-level posts in central police organisations on the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) order said.
Shri Mittal, a 1993-batch Himachal Pradesh cadre officer, has been appointed as the Director General of BPR&D, a position in the Level-16 pay scale. He will hold the charge until his superannuation on June 30, 2029, or until further orders, the order stated.
Shri Garg, also a 1993-batch officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, has been named the Director of NCRB.

Currently serving as Director of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad, Garg will serve in his new role till his retirement on October 31, 2027. He replaces Shri Alok Ranjan, a 1991-batch Madhya Pradesh cadre officer.
Additionally, Shri Sujeet Pandey, a 1994-batch Uttar Pradesh cadre officer, has been appointed as the new Director of SVPNPA. He will take over from Garg and serve till his superannuation on July 31, 2028, or until further orders, the order added.
All officers will assume charge from the date of their joining, it said. (KNS)
