Srinagar, June 23(KNS): The Kashmir Valley is experiencing scorching weather conditions, with Srinagar reaching its highest temperature of the season and matching the warmest June day in the past ten years on Friday.

According to a meteorological department official, the maximum temperature in Srinagar rose to 35.0°C, which was 5.8°C above the normal seasonal average. Today's temperature surpassed yesterday's previous high of 34.8°C and equaled the hottest June day in a decade. The only other time in the past ten years that the mercury reached 35.0°C was on June 3, 2018.

Other areas in the region also faced sweltering weather conditions, with Pahalgam (30.0°C), Qazigund (34.2°C), Kokernag (33.7°C), Kupwara (33.5°C), and Gulmarg (25.0°C) reporting high temperatures. Kokernag experienced its warmest June day in over a decade, while Pahalgam recorded its second-highest June temperature in the past ten years, with temperatures exceeding 30.0°C on June 9, 2021.

As for the minimum temperatures, Srinagar recorded a low of 21.0°C, above the normal by 5.2°C. Qazigund registered a low of 19.0°C, surpassing the normal by 4.7°C. Pahalgam reported a low of 10.6°C, 1.5°C above the normal, while Kupwara settled at 17.8°C, exceeding the normal by 3.7°C. Kokernag recorded a low of 19.3°C, above the normal by 5.2°C, and Gulmarg reported a low of 15.4°C, exceeding the normal by 5.2°C.(KNS).
