Srinagar, Jan 05 (KNS): In a first, a traditional Shikara is on display in Jammu and Kashmir Floor at India Pavilion of Dubai Expo-2020 and is being supplemented by a live demonstration of 5 crafts wherein the noted Padma Shri Artisan Ghulam Rasool, famous Jamavar artist is displaying his skill.
Giving details, director Industries and Commerce Kashmir, Mahmood Ahmad Shah told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that Maqbool Jan, a shilip Guru is exhibiting his Paper Mashie products and attracting the visitors with live demonstration of his unmatched art.
He said that it is for the first time that Pashmina Carpets are being displayed in the Pavillion, while carpet making, kani weaving, walnut engraving and basholi painting were also being demonstrated live.
"The Pavilion is showcasing digital content on 12 display screens highlighting Tourism, Handicrafts, Agri and Horticulture potential, additionally culture and cuisine is supplementing the event," he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Shah said that an entourage of renowned singers and musicians including Irfan-Bilal and Mehmeet, budding stars Waqar Khan and Sonali Dogra also mesmerised the visitors with their music and vocals.
Shah, who is the nodal officer from J&K for making all the necessary arrangements at the J&K Pavilion, is assisted by a team of officers from administrative department of Industries and Commerce.
He said that the event is already a success and increase in footfall is expected at the J&K Pavilion in the coming days. "J&K diaspora based in Dubai is actively participating in various events like G2B meetings and B2B meetings," he said. (KNS)
