Jammu, Aug 2 (KNS) : The Northern Railway's Jammu Division has earned a revenue of ?77.97 lakh by booking 10,014 cases during July, officials said on Sunday.
The intensive drive was conducted across the division in all Mail, Express, and Passenger trains, as well as at major stations, with the objective of ensuring rule-based travel and safeguarding railway revenue.
"These figures reflect a significant increase in the division's revenue and demonstrate our commitment to curbing violations of railway rules," Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said.
The checking staff registered cases against passengers for travelling without tickets, in higher classes without proper authorization, carrying unbooked luggage, and other offences under the Railways Act.

Singhal said the campaign also benefitted bona fide passengers by reducing overcrowding in reserved coaches and ensuring better seat availability.
"This achievement has been possible due to the hard work and dedication of our ticket checking staff. Such intensive drives will continue in the future for the convenience of passengers and the safety of railway property," he added.
The official also appealed to passengers to travel only with valid tickets, warning that travel without a ticket or unauthorized entry into reserved coaches is a punishable offence. Passengers can seek assistance by contacting Rail Madad at 139. (KNS)
