SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 1 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir government has accorded administrative approval for restoration of the traditional Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage route at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore, officials said.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the restoration project is aimed at preserving the heritage of the traditional route while strengthening infrastructure and improving facilities for pilgrims undertaking the journey.

The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine is among the major pilgrimage destinations in Jammu and Kashmir and attracts millions of devotees from across the country and abroad every year.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The project will focus on restoration and improvement of the traditional route to ensure a safer, smoother and more convenient pilgrimage experience for devotees while retaining its historical and cultural significance.

Omar Abdullah emphasised that development of pilgrimage infrastructure should go hand in hand with preservation of the heritage and traditional character of important religious sites in Jammu and Kashmir.

The project is expected to strengthen facilities along the traditional route and improve the overall pilgrimage experience for devotees visiting the shrine. (KNS)
