Baramulla, Aug 24 (KNS) : District President Jammu & Kashmir Teachers Association (JKTA) Baramulla, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, has expressed deep anguish and serious concern over the reported incidents of child abuse in Jammu & Kashmir, terming them deeply disturbing and distressing.
In a statement issued, Bhat said that any act of abuse against a child is a heinous crime and a grave betrayal of the trust reposed by parents and society in those entrusted with the care, education and protection of children.
He said that the teacher–student relationship is sacred and built on trust, respect, discipline, guidance and moral responsibility. Parents send their children to schools with the faith that teachers will guide them, protect them and help shape them into responsible and compassionate human beings.
“Any individual who violates this sacred trust and commits or attempts to commit such an act must face exemplary punishment under law. There can be absolutely no compromise when it comes to the safety, dignity and well-being of children,” Bhat said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He further observed that such incidents, besides causing immense pain and trauma to victims and their families, also bring disrepute to the noble teaching profession. However, the alleged misconduct of individuals should not be allowed to tarnish the image of the entire teaching community, which continues to perform its duties with dedication, sincerity and a strong sense of responsibility.
The JK Teachers Association Baramulla urged the authorities to ensure swift, impartial and time-bound investigation into every such case and take stringent action against anyone found guilty. The association also called for strengthening child-protection mechanisms in schools and creating a safe, secure and dignified environment for every child.
“The safety of children must remain our collective priority. Protecting children is not only a legal responsibility but a moral obligation of every individual and institution in society,” Bhat added.(KNS)
