Srinagar, June 16 (KNS): A group of Kashmiri Pandits, including members of the diaspora from the United States, Europe and different parts of India, visited the historic Acharya Abhinav Gupta Cave in central Kashmir's Beerwah area after nearly 36 years and were welcomed by local Muslim residents.
The delegation visited the cave, also known as the Bhairav Cave, in Budgam district to pay obeisance at the site associated with Acharya Abhinav Gupta, the philosopher and scholar of Kashmir Shaivism.
Local residents, community elders and social activists received the visitors and accompanied them during their visit to the shrine.
For many members of the delegation, the trip marked their first visit to the Valley since leaving Kashmir in the early 1990s. Several visitors described the occasion as an emotional return to their homeland and an opportunity to reconnect with places linked to their cultural and spiritual heritage.
Residents of Beerwah said the visit reflected the shared cultural traditions of the Valley and underscored the importance of preserving communal harmony.
They said interactions between members of the two communities during the visit highlighted longstanding social and cultural ties and offered an opportunity for dialogue and engagement.
The Acharya Abhinav Gupta Cave is regarded as an important site in Kashmir's religious and philosophical history and is associated with one of the most prominent exponents of Kashmir Shaivism.
The visit concluded with interactions between members of the delegation and local residents, who exchanged greetings and discussed the cultural significance of the shrine.
Participants said such visits help strengthen people-to-people connections and contribute to efforts aimed at preserving Kashmir's pluralistic traditions and shared heritage.(KNS)
