Srinagar, June 3 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday expressed grief over the loss of lives in a fire that broke out at a hotel in Delhi's Malviya Nagar area, claiming at least 21 lives.
In a post on X, Sinha said he was deeply saddened by the tragedy and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families.
"Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in a tragic fire incident in Malviya Nagar, Delhi. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief. Prayers for early recovery of the injured," he said.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed sorrow over the incident and extended sympathies to the families of the victims.
The chief minister expressed solidarity with the victims' families and hoped they would find strength to cope with their loss.
The fire broke out at a hotel in the congested Malviya Nagar locality of south Delhi, killing at least 21 people and injuring several others. Some of the victims were reportedly foreign nationals staying at the hotel while attending to relatives undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the blaze, while rescue and relief operations were carried out by emergency services.(KNS).
