Srinagar Oct 24 (KNS):  The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial Committee on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution calling for immediate ceasefire in Gaza and providing access to humanitarian aid and relief material to Gaza.

While presiding over a Provincial Committee meeting at party headquarters Nawa e Subah Srinagar, party VP Omar Abdullah called out the ambivalent policy of European countries with regards to the plight of people in Gaza.

“There should be no silence on the killing of innocent people. We reserve no words in condemning the killing of unarmed civilians on both sides in the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. In the same vein we strongly condemn the atrocities Israel is commenting on the innocent people in Gaza and the West bank. Since the first day, we have been opposing what is happening there. Innocent people are being killed in Gaza bombings.”

Omar further said, “Unfortunately the western world has proved that there are different laws for Russia and Israel. When Russia stopped water and essential commodities during the Ukraine war, it was termed as war crime, so why is it not applicable when Israel is doing the same thing to Palestinians? If what Russia did to Ukraine was a war crime; then what Israel is doing to Gaza should also be condemned as a war crime? We demand that all crimes be weighed in equal scales. There shouldn't be any differentiation.”

On the occasion, Party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Additional General Secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Party Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani and Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq besides senior party leaders, Zone Presidents, district presidents, in-charge constituencies, Provincial Committee members. Apart from the Women and Youth Wing, Minority Cell functionaries were also present in the meeting.

The meeting was marked by the threadbare discussions on the prevailing political situation in Kashmir. Issues of public importance like erratic electricity, ration curtailment, development deficit, administrative inertia, unemployment, and skyrocketing inflation also marked up in the meeting.

Party functionaries also congratulated the party leadership on the party's splendid victory in the recently held LAHDC, Kargil elections.

Omar  attributed the victory of the Kargil Council elections to the people of Kargil and said that the people of Kargil have given a clear message to the whole country through their vote slips that they completely disapprove of the decision of 5 August 2019.

He congratulated the National Conference Kargil Wing and also thanked the lawyers who ensured the party's success in the legal struggle to ensure that National Conference fight the Kargil elections on plough symbol.

Omar Abdullah urged the people associated with the party to maintain close contact with the people and work for the strengthening of all organizational units. He said that there were conspiracies against the plough flag in the past, they are happening now and will continue to happen in the future as well, but the party functionaries have to stand firm and show unity to thwart such conspiracies.(KNS)
