Night Volleyball tournament lits-up Handawara, Volleybal club Bandipura emerges as winners

Handwara July 07 (KNS): The streets of Handwara came alive under the floodlights as the much-anticipated Handwara Night Volleyball Tournament took center stage. This thrilling event, organized by Army Camp Bhagatpura, brought together volleyball enthusiasts, athletes, and local residents for an unforgettable evening of sportsmanship, competition, and camaraderie.

The tournament was held at Boy’s Higher Secondary School, Handwara. The vibrant glow of the floodlights illuminated the entire area, creating a mesmerizing ambiance that captured the attention of both players and spectators. The event was inaugurated by Mr Basheer Ah Khan Municipal Committee Chairman. Mr Suleiman Mir (DDC Rajwar), Mr Aijaz Sofi (President Traders Union),

Majid Banday (President CRPP), Mr Gurdev Singh (Gen Secretary District Volleyball Association Kupwara), Mrs Dilruba Hamdani (Principal Degree College), Rafeeq Ah Mir (Principal BHSS), Mr Mohd Amin (President Fruit Mandi), Dr Aijaz (District Hospital) graced the occasion with their presence. 

A total of 8 teams participated in the knockout phase of the competition conducted on Day 1.Day 2 of the tournament commenced with the much awaited semifinal matches. In the first semifinal, Friends Volleyball Club , Bandipura defeated Game Changers, Seeloo.

In the second semifinals, local favourite Spartan Kupwara defeated Dudhipura Volleyball Club. All the matches were best of 3 sets. 

After the intense semifinal rounds, the tournament reached its thrilling climax. The final match showcased the best of the best, with teams battling it out for the championship title. The exhilarating rallies and nail-biting finishes had the spectators on the edge of their seats. In the end, it was Friends Volleyball Club, Bandipura that emerged as the champions defeating the home team Spartans Kupwara, basking in the glory of their hard-fought triumph. The atmosphere was filled with applause, cheers, and a sense of camaraderie as everyone acknowledged the outstanding performances. Food stalls offering a variety of delicious snacks and refreshments kept everyone energized throughout the event. 

The winning team was awarded with a cash prize of

Rs 10,000, trophies and medals. The runners up were also rewarded with cash prize, trophy and medals. Danish Ahmed of Friends Bandipura was adjudged the ’Player of the Tournament’

From the players who showcased their skills to the spectators who cheered them on, the event exemplified the growing popularity of this unique sport. The captivating combination of floodlights, intense competition, and lively entertainment made it a night to remember.
