NLCO Core Group Holds Special Meeting with VC LC&MA for Gilsar-Khushalsar Conservation

Srinagar December 02 (KNS): In a significant move towards the conservation of Gilsar-Khushalsar twin urban lakes, the core group of Nageen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO) convened a special meeting today with Dr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat IRS, the Vice Chairman of Lakes Conservation & Management Authority (VC LC&MA). The meeting took place at the LC&MA Dockyard in Nishat, Srinagar, in the afternoon.


The meeting, attended by the Core Group of NLCO and VC LC&MA along with his team, is regarded as a crucial step in the ongoing efforts to preserve these twin urban lakes. LC&MA, designated to deploy two machines for cleaning and dredging the lake, assured NLCO of its utmost commitment to aid in the restoration and rejuvenation of the lakes.

During the meeting, VC LC&MA applauded NLCO's tireless efforts in removing decades-old tons of muck from the waterbody, instilling a renewed sense of hope that these lakes can indeed be restored. The perceived notion that these lakes are lost is now being challenged.
In attendance were Er. Rajinder K. Sharma Superintending Engineer LC&MA, Sh. Gulzar Ahmad Secretary LC&MA, and other officers. Core group members from NLCO, including President Manzoor Wangnoo, Technical Advisors Er. Ajaz Rasool, Farooq Gillaani IFS (retd.), Dr. Mushtaq Margoob, Zahoor Qari, Lateef Ahmad, M Shafi Boktoo, Riyaz Ahmad, and Nisar Ahmad, actively participated in the discussions about proper and sustained conservation measures.

The NLCO core group presented a memorandum to VC LC&MA, and various members shared their insights and suggestions during the positive deliberations. The meeting marks a significant step, and with the current administration's positive approach towards conservation, it is believed that these waterbodies will soon be restored to their pristine glory.

VC LC&MA assured that every necessary step will be taken to facilitate the restoration of these lakes. President NLCO expressed gratitude to VC and his team, anticipating that this meeting will be a positive stride towards the conservation of Gilsar-Khushalsar lakes.(KNS)
