Jammu, Aug 27 (KNS): In a major crackdown against ticketless travel, Northern Railway’s Jammu Division conducted an intensive ticket checking drive in the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) to Pathankot Cantt (PTKC) rail section on Thursday, officials said.
A special team of 15 commercial department staff carried out simultaneous checks onboard various Mail/Express trains plying on the route, under the supervision of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, Uchit Singhal.
According to a press release issued by the division, a total of 141 persons were apprehended for travelling without tickets, irregular tickets, or without proper authority under Section 138 of the Indian Railways Act, 1989.

Speaking on the occasion, Singhal emphasized that the drive was aimed at ensuring safe and rule-bound travel for all passengers. "The purpose is not to harass anyone but to create awareness. Ticketless travel causes financial loss to the Railways and inconvenience to bona fide passengers," he said, urging travellers to use the UTS Mobile App and the newly launched RailOne App for booking unreserved and reserved tickets from home.
Notably, the Jammu Division has stated that such drives will continue in future to protect railway revenue and ensure passenger convenience. (KNS)
