Srinagar April 16 (KNS): Senior NC leader and Former Finance Minister Ab Rahim Rather has expressed shock and grief over the loss of precious human lives including some school going children in a heart wrenching boat capsize incident in river Jehlum near Gandabal Batawara in Srinagar.
In a statement issued on Tuesday Ab Rahim Rather has expressed profound grief over the death of many school going children , after a boat capsized in river Jehlum near Gandabal Batawara in Srinagar early on Tuesday morning He has sought a thorough inquiry into the tragic incident. He said locals have alleged that today’s tragedy is because of the absence of a bridge adding that the work on construction of a bridge near the accident has been abondoned since the last 10 years. He said it was amply clear that inordinate delay of several years in completion of the underconstruction bridge near the site has compelled the local people to ferry their minor children to a local school through boats.
Rather has extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls.
He has also demanded immediate completion of the under contruction bridge near the site of the incident.(KNS)
