Srinagar, Sep 22 (KNS): Senior Congress leader and former JKPCC chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Friday welcomed the release of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
"I appreciate the Govt's decision of releasing Mirwaiz Umar Farooq after a long period of four years of house arrest. Heartening to see Mirwaiz on the pulpit giving Friday sermon in revered Jamia Masjid, again," G A Mir said.
"Certainly a welcome step, in a right direction, should have been taken early. Anyways congratulations to Mirwaiz Saheb," he added. (KNS)
