Sadhotra slams BJP for unleashing disinformation campaign against NC

JAMMU AUGUST 14  (KNS): Jammu Kashmir National Conference Senior leader and Former Minister Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today came down heavily on the BJP leaders for their ignorance about history of Jammu and Kashmir and contribution of the National Conference leadership in making it as jewel in the crown of India.

Addressing the people at Thathar in Jammu North Assembly Constituency Mr Sadhotra said that it has become fashion for the BJP leaders like National General Secretary Tarun Chugh to give vent to their frustration by undermining the role of Dr Farooq Abdullah in nation building and restoring peace and tranquility in the erstwhile state, which they have reduced to Union Territory. He referred to the historic presentation amid turbulence in Kashmir by the Indian delegation led by Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the UN, which included Dr Farooq Abdullah as one of the members, favouring resolution of all the issues bilaterally. He recalled Vajpayee JI’s famous quote that friends can be changed but not the neighbours and said if the same is reiterated by Dr Farooq Abdullah, the BJP leaders cry hoarse and get rattled . How would they react to Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi’s unscheduled visit to Lahore to be in the company of Nawaz Sharif, he added.

Sadhotra said the biggest beneficiaries of thaw between the two neighbours would be the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who have been passing through difficult times. Mr Sadhotra blamed the BJP for indulging in reactionary politics, saying divisive and hate public discourse has taken toll of the unity, which is crucial for survival of multi-religious and multi-lingual country like India. He urged the people to keep guard against BJP’s attempts of inciting passions on religious issues, especially in the run up to the 2024 elections and asserted that such tactics have to be fought unitedly. He said divisive politics is against the ethos of this great nation, which is abode of all, irrespective of religion, region or culture. He exuded confidence that the people will foil all such attempts by keeping the flame of secularism shinning despite provocations. Mr Sadhotra said that the BJP stands exposed for double standards and advised its leadership not to behave like ostrich and get acquainted with ground realities which are not as rosy as they are desperately trying to paint day in and day out.

The ground situation will show them their real face and they will find a huge writing on the wall. The wrath and the anger of the people is going to manifest in big resentment when time comes for them to demonstrate their democratic rights, he said adding that once betrayed the electors, especially those from Jammu, cannot be fooled again. He urged the people to remain steadfast in their resolve in fighting divisive and deceptive politics, which has harmed Jammu a lot during the past nearly over nine years. Mr Sadhotra said the gains of the National Conference government under chief ministership of Mr Omar Abdullah on all the fronts have been negated after the so-called double engine government took over after 2014. In the meeting Mr Gourav Singh Jamwal was appointed as Block President Youth National Conference Jammu North. Scores of youth joined the National Conference.

Mr Sadhotra and other leaders congratulated Mr Gourav Jamwal and new entrants and hoped that they will work with zeal and dedication and will strengthen our party National Conference and hands of our leadership Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah.

Addressing the meeting, Mr Gourav Singh Jamwal assured that he will work dedicatedly to strengthen the party and make all efforts to reach to the youth of his Block.
