Srinagar, Jun 12 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Friday visited two key healthcare facilities in the downtown Srinagar area, including a century-old hospital that is set for a major upgrade.
Itoo, accompanied by JKNC General Secretary and Khanyar MLA Ali Mohammad Sagar and Hazratbal MLA Salman Ali Sagar, inspected the historic S.R. Gunj Hospital and Government Gousia Hospital in Khanyar.
S.R. Gunj Hospital, a vital healthcare institution located in the densely populated Shahr-e-Khaas downtown area, has served generations of old city residents. Officials said the hospital has witnessed significant upgradation following efforts by MLA Ali Mohammad Sagar, and the revamped facility is expected to be inaugurated within the next month.

The delegation also reviewed the functioning of Gousia Hospital and proposed its expansion by adding a 50-bedded fully operational block adjacent to the existing structure. Major renovation works on the current building will commence soon, they added.
Minister Itoo assured full support for the timely completion of these projects. The MLAs reiterated their commitment to strengthening grassroots healthcare in the region, according to an official statement. (KNS)
