Srinagar, June 25 (KNS): Senior IPS officer Mahesh Dixit, a 1993-batch officer of the Telangana cadre with extensive experience in Jammu and Kashmir, has been appointed as the new Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), India's premier internal intelligence agency.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Dixit is widely regarded as a seasoned Kashmir hand, having served as Chief of the Intelligence Bureau's Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau (SIB) in Srinagar during a crucial period marked by major political and security developments in the region.
During his tenure in Kashmir, he oversaw intelligence operations across Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and played a significant role in security coordination following the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.

Officials familiar with his work describe him as an officer with deep operational experience and a thorough understanding of the region's evolving security landscape.
Over the years, Dixit has held several important assignments in the intelligence and security establishment. He is expected to assume charge shortly as the head of the Intelligence Bureau.
His appointment comes at a time when internal security and intelligence coordination remain key priorities for the country. (KNS)
