Sheikh Imran slams "dynastic" political parties, says change is not just necessary but inevitable

Srinagar, Oct 17 (KNS): Former SMC mayor Sheikh Imran has criticized dynastic political parties and politicians, vowing to eradicate dynasticism from Kashmir's political landscape, particularly in Srinagar

He said that it's disconcerting that certain political parties function like corporations, with dynastic leadership and the consolidation of power within these private entities raises valid concerns about democratic principles.

Imran said that this cycle of dynasticism must be brought to an end; otherwise, it will continue to foster the belief that political positions and seats are an inherent birthright.

"This perpetuation would see future generations of dynastic leaders securing positions through familial succession, presuming entitlement to inherit roles from their forefathers and relying on the votes of their predecessors and descendants. This would establish an unending pattern."

He added that dynastic politicians shouldn't take for granted that they'll inherit these positions from their forefathers, whether fathers, grandfathers, or great-grandfathers, while claiming the support of unborn voters.

He urged people to repudiate their agendas and rhetoric, emphasizing the need to deny dynastic politicians any opportunity to represent and serve the public.

"The era of exploitation by the family rulers has lasted long enough, and change is not just necessary but also inevitable," he said. (KNS)
