Says several roads in old city rendered completely useless

Srinagar Jan 30 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar on Tuesday said roads in Srinagar continue to remain in shambles, putting locals into a lot of inconvenience.

Sagar said, "The roads in the city are full of potholes and travelling has become very difficult. Some roads have not been macadamized in the last few years. Authorities are delaying macadamization for reasons better known to them. Apart from causing problems for local commuters, bad roads in and around the city are maligning the image of the city as a tourist destination."

"Usually roads are blacktopped during the start of the summer months but during last year authorities failed to macadamize city roads on time," he said adding, "Srinagar’s old city, roads appear to have been repaired ages ago. Though, there are certain spots where the roads were repaired, but those repairs did not last long. There are several road patches in the old city that have been rendered completely useless."(KNS)
