Srinagar, 21 Aug (KNS) : A meeting of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Women’s Wing was held today at the party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subha, under the chairmanship of Women’s Wing President and MLA Habba Kadal Advocate Shamima Firdous. Provincial President Er. Sabiya Qadri and all district presidents of the Kashmir Province participated in the meeting.

The meeting reviewed organisational affairs, ongoing activities of the Women’s Wing and issues confronting people, particularly challenges faced by women across the districts. The participants shared their views, highlighted public grievances and difficulties in their respective areas and apprised the leadership of the status of ongoing developmental works.

Addressing the meeting, Firdous said strengthening the National Conference was the need of the hour and called upon party workers to maintain sustained contact with the people, understand their concerns, raise their grievances at the appropriate forums and work sincerely towards their resolution.

She said the people are the ultimate source of public authority and that the strength of any political organisation lies in its connect with the people. She said the Women’s Wing has consistently worked in accordance with the directions of the party leadership and the principles of the party’s Naya Kashmir programme. She maintained that women have always been an integral force in the growth and consolidation of the National Conference and that the Women’s Wing remains one of the organisation’s strongest pillars.

Recalling the historic contribution of women party workers at critical junctures, she said the Women’s Wing would continue to strengthen its grassroots presence, expand its outreach and work with renewed dedication to further consolidate the organisation.

Provincial Secretary Ayesha Jameel and other office-bearers were also present on the occasion. Meanwhile, a delegation of Kashmir Province Women’s Wing office-bearers, led by Shamima Firdous, called on Chief Minister’s Advisor Nisar Aslam Wani and apprised him of issues and challenges confronting women. The delegation also briefed the Advisor about the activities, outreach programmes and organisational initiatives undertaken by the Women’s Wing.(KNS)
