Srinagar April 09 (KNS): An impressive function was today held at Iqbal public High school Soura to pay tributes to noted Urdu writer Ashraf Aasari who died last week after a brief spell of illness.
The function was presided over by former bureaucrat and author Kachoo Asfanyar Khan. Others who attended the function include senior journalist Wajeh Ahmad Andrabi, Private schools Association president GN Vaar, All Kashmir Sikh coordination committee chief Jagmohan Singh Raina, Principal Boys Hr. Sec. School Soura Firdous Ahmad Wani, former news editor Doordarshan Shafiq Qurishi, social activist Rafiq Ahmad Khan, Hazratbali, head meezan publishers Shabir Ahmad, Nazim Nazir, Sarwar Maqbool, Aslam Khateeb, Rashid Rahgeer, sofi Ab. Rashid, Taskeen Naqshbandi and others. Many family members of late Aasari including his brother M. He said that it is the responsibility of late Aasari's heirs to bring out his unpublished writings. He said that the idea behind organising today's function at Iqbal Public High school Soura was to male newer generations familiar with life and contributions of contemporary personalities.in his presidential speech Mr. Asfandyar said that Ashraf Aasari was a humble and polite soul. Wajih Ahmad Andrabi said that he will bring a special Ashraf , Aasari number. Vote of thanks was presented by sofi Ali Mohammad while the proceedings were conducted by sheem Meem Ahmad. Shafeeq Qurishi, Aslam Khateeb, Rashid Rahgir, M. Rafiq Khan also spoke on this occasion.(KNS)
