Widespread rain, snow expected in JK until march 3rd

 Srinagar, Feb 28 ( KNS): The Weather department has predicted widespread moderate rain and snowfall across most areas of Jammu and Kashmir until the afternoon of March 3rd.

 
"Peak activity is forecasted from the night of March 1st to the night of March 2nd.
Some regions, especially the higher reaches of North Kashmir, Central and South Kashmir, and the Pirpanjal range of Jammu Division, may experience heavy to very heavy snowfall.
 
Thunder, lightning, and hailstorms accompanied by gusty winds are expected in certain areas on March 1st and 2nd," the weather department said, as per news agency KNS.
 
"Travelers and tourists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and adhere to advisories issued by local authorities and traffic police.Residents in hilly areas are cautioned against venturing into avalanche-prone and steep regions. They are urged to follow avalanche warnings and advisories closely.
 
There is a risk of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones at various locations.
Farmers are advised to postpone irrigation and other agricultural activities during the first week of March to mitigate potential risks.
 
The forecast indicates significant precipitation in the form of rain and snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir until March 3rd. Residents and visitors are urged to exercise caution and stay informed about weather updates and advisories issued by relevant authorities".(KNS)
