Youth, first-time voters to be welcomed to take part in festival of democracy: RO Baramulla Minga Sherpa

Srinagar, May 02 (KNS): Returning Officer Baramulla Minga Sherpa Thursday said that administration has put all arrangements in place for smooth conduct of Lok Sabha elections in the segment. He said exclusive arrangements have been done for first-time and young voters in the constituency.

Talking exclusively to Kashmir News Service (KNS), the concerned Returning Officer Baramulla Minga Sherpa said eleven candidates have filed their nomination papers so far but administration is expecting more faces to come as last day for filing nomination papers is May 03 till 03:00 pm.

He said there is full-fledged system in place and exclusive arrangements have been commissioned for young and first-time voters.

Providing details, Sherpa said that Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency has 18 assembly constituencies as it spreads over 4 districts. “Keeping the wide area into account we have established 2103 polling stations, including 54 model polling booths in the constituency. Further there will be special polling booth for PWD, Young Voters and Women in each constituency,” he said.

“Huge number of youth has been enrolled afresh. In this regard administration held Mega SVEEP events, rallies and other programs with an aim to make youth and first-time voters aware for becoming part of election” he added.

Notably Baramulla Lok Sabha seat is going for polls on May 20. (KNS)
