"From PSA Dossier to NEET Merit List”: Sajad Lone Shares Zubair’s Story of Redemption and Hope

Srinagar, June 18 (KNS): People's Conference President Sajad Gani Lone on Wednesday shared a deeply personal and emotional story of redemption and hope, revealing how a young man once on the verge of detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA) has now cracked the NEET examination and is set to become a doctor.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Lone wrote about Zubair ul Islam Bhat, a resident of Khumriyal village in Kupwara district, calling his success “a victory of the concepts of love and compassion.”

Sharing his picture alongside Zuber, Lone in a post on "X" said, “This is Zuber @bhattweetss from Khumriyal. Congratulations on passing NEET. Zuber has excelled academically. But Zuber is much more than a young boy who has cracked NEET. The life of Zuber is a story. And I too am a part of that story."

Lone said that just a year ago, Zubair was on the brink of being booked under the PSA, with a dossier reportedly prepared. “His family approached me… I don’t know what happened. But I was convinced that Zubair has to be saved. I was convinced that Zubair is special and can deliver academically and move on to have an excellent career. I believed that Zubair deserves a chance,” Lone said.

He further said how he personally took the matter up with the district police. “I approached SSP Kupwara who I have to say was very apprehensive. I volunteered to personally guarantee his conduct.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWe talked so many times over phone and the conversation would end with disagreements.”

However, in a turn of events that Lone describes as pivotal, the SSP Kupwara eventually agreed. “I still remember I got a call from the SSP Kupwara. He said he had given it a thought and that he too is convinced that Zubair needs to be given a chance,” Lone added.

The PC President credited the SSP’s decision as transformative not just for Zubair, but for society. “Congratulations to SSP Kupwara. His decision to release Zubair means he has added a doctor to the society,” he wrote.

Lone said he would have never shared the story publicly but felt that Zubair’s journey carries a bigger message. “I would have never talked about this. But Zubair’s story is a story of triumph of love and compassion. Maybe there is a message in this story. I hope our decision makers understand that message,” he wrote.

He also expressed his gratitude to the higher administration for their role in allowing the intervention. “My thanks to @OfficeOfLGJandK. Without the consent of the top officials, this would never have been possible,” he said.

Concluding his post, Lone underlined the broader takeaway from Zubair’s transformation: “Victory in Kashmir lies in love and compassion. Let us all rejoice Zubair’s success. It is a victory of the concepts of love and compassion.”(KNS)
