12 Injured in Collision in Qalamabad, Handwara

Kupwara, June 19 (KNS): Twelve individuals sustained injuries when two vehicles collided head-on in the Batpora area of Mawar, Qalamabad, in North Kashmir's Kupwara district on Wednesday.

The incident, reported by eyewitnesses to Kashmir News Service, occurred when the vehicles were traveling from opposite directions.

The collision resulted in injuries to around a dozen people. Following the accident, the injured were initially taken to NTPHC, Qalamabad. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were subsequently transferred to Associated Hospital, GMC, Hanwara, for specialized treatment.

Local residents raised concerns over the unavailability of an ambulance at NTPHC, Qalamabad at the time of the incident.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThey reported that the victims were rescued and transported to the hospital using public transport, with efforts coordinated jointly by locals and the police.

Some of the injured have been identified as Ghulam Nabi Sheikh from Mawar Payeen, Samen Shafi War from Lach, Mohammad Meskeen from Nowgam, Abdul Rashid Tantaray from Hangha, Umi Aiman from Nowgam, Rubeena Begum from Nowgam, Mesra Begum from Nowgam, Mohammad Akbar Sheikh from Nowgam, Ulfat from Nowgam, and Aima from Nowgam.

The absence of adequate medical transport resources at the local healthcare facility has sparked calls for better preparedness and infrastructure to handle such emergencies.

The exact cause of the collision is yet to be determined, and an investigation is underway.(KNS)
