Tangmarg, January 27 (KNS) The much-anticipated Mini Secretariat in Tangmarg, a project envisioned to streamline administrative services for the people of the region, has remained unfulfilled for the past 13 years. Despite repeated assurances from successive governments, no concrete steps have been taken to turn this vision into reality, leaving the people of Tangmarg to bear the brunt of administrative neglect.
The Mini Secretariat, once proposed as a centralized hub for government offices, was expected to bring significant relief to the local population by reducing their dependency on distant offices for basic administrative tasks. However, the lack of political will and bureaucratic delays have stalled the project, leading to growing discontent among the residents.
“It's as if the government has turned a blind eye to our plight. Do they think we are born to suffer? For over a decade, we’ve been waiting, but nothing changes,” lamented a local resident, Adv Ali Mohammad.
Citizens of Tangmarg have to travel to Baramulla or Srinagar to access even basic services, causing both financial and time burdens. This has particularly affected elderly citizens and those from economically weaker sections, who cannot afford frequent travel.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Community leaders and activists have raised concerns over the continued apathy. “The Mini Secretariat was meant to bridge the gap between the administration and the people. Unfortunately, no government has prioritized this issue, despite knowing its significance for the region,” said a social activist Aadil Nazir
Over the years, politicians visiting the area have used the Mini Secretariat project as a campaign promise, yet no tangible progress has been made. The site for the project, identified years ago, lies abandoned, overgrown with weeds—a stark reminder of broken promises.
As the people of Tangmarg voice their frustration, they urge the current government to act on its commitments and bring an end to this prolonged ordeal. “We deserve better,” said Abdul Rashid. “Our voices have been ignored for too long. It’s time for action, not empty words.”
The question now remains: will the government finally deliver on this long-pending demand, or will the dream of a Mini Secretariat in Tangmarg continue to fade into oblivion(KNS)
