Srinagar, Mar 13 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir has recorded a major drop in the number of active terrorists as authorities intensify efforts to curb militant activities, government sources revealed.
According to official data, 59 foreign terrorists from Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) are currently active in the region. Meanwhile, the number of local terrorists stands at 17, with just three in the Jammu region and 14 in the Kashmir Valley.
In a parallel security operation in Manipur between February 16 and March 7, a total of 990 weapons were surrendered, alongside the recovery of 11,526 rounds of ammunition. Security forces also seized 366 hand grenades, 230 bombs, and 10 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
The government remains committed to dismantling terrorist networks and preventing the misuse of Indian territory for militant activities, officials added. (KNS)
