Srinagar, August 2 (KNS): Abdul Rashid Ganie, hailing from Magam village of Handwara in Kupwara, has been elected Vice-President of the Non-Teaching Employees Association at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K).
Ganie's victory in the election is notable, as he secured a decisive win over five other candidates by a margin of 182 votes.
The election, conducted from July 9 to July 25 and concluded with vote counting on July 29, was overseen by a Chief Observer and an Election Commission team to ensure transparency and fairness. Ganie's election is viewed as a momentous achievement, highlighting the leadership potential from the Kupwara region. The newly elected officials will serve a three-year term, starting August 3, 2024, and concluding on August 2, 2027.
