Srinagar, Aug 30 (KNS): Advocate Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi has written to Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, Chairman of the Committee on Environment in the J&K Legislative Assembly, seeking his intervention in a land dispute concerning more than 3,000 kanals in Budgam.
In his letter, Mehdi said that the land, owned by residents of Soibug, Daharmuna and adjoining villages for over seven decades, has been arbitrarily brought under wetland conservation.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe stressed that the move is depriving genuine landowners of their proprietary rights without due process, consultation, or compensation.
Mehdi cautioned that such decisions not only violate natural justice but also threaten the livelihood of farmers whose paddy fields are at risk of submergence. He urged Tarigami to step in and ensure that the rights of the affected inhabitants are restored without administrative hurdles.(KNS)
