After CM Omar's Appeal, GoI Approves PMAY-G houses for Fire Victims of Warwan Valley

 


Srinagar, Jan 5 (KNS): In a significant development, the Government of India has approved a special housing project under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) to support the rehabilitation of families affected by the devastating fire in Mulwarwan village, Warwan Valley, Kishtwar district.

The fire, which broke out on October 15 last year, left several families homeless, destroying numerous houses in its wake. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who took office on October 16, visited the affected area the following day. He assured the victims of comprehensive rehabilitation measures and committed to securing Central Government assistance for rebuilding efforts.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Responding to Chief Minister Abdullah's appeal for financial aid, the Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned a special package for the construction of up to 85 houses, including seven previously registered PMAY-G beneficiaries. This assistance has been approved for the financial year 2024-25.

The Chief Minister highlighted the critical need for housing support to ensure the affected families can rebuild their homes and restore normalcy to their lives.
The Ministry's Rural Housing Division has formally communicated the project approval to the Secretary of the Department of Rural Development, UT Government of Jammu & Kashmir. (KNS)
